《Syllabus》

「バーチャル英語圏社会で英会話を学ぶ語学プログラム: Hybrid English Learning Program (HELP) 」
This session will explain and explore the Hybrid English Learning Program that is exclusive to Kanda Institute of Foreign Languages. This program is a blend of traditional classroom study coupled with a metaverse (virtual online world) component. This session will show how the program works, why it is very popular, educational, and fun for both the student and the teacher. With major companies showing great interest in the metaverse, it is beneficial for English educators to learn of the benefits such technology can offer.

*All participants should be English teachers, hence they should understand conversational English.

《Message》

Demonstrations will show teachers how KIFL uses the metaverse in English classes. Since, memorization and practice are essential for students to learn good pronunciation, fluency, and proper phrase/sentence structure, HELP uses dialog scripts as a basis for having a long-form English conversation. This lecture will show how this innovative approach makes dialogue memorization more fun and helps overcome other challenges some EFL learners face.

《Profile》

Anthony Madden is currently the Senior Manager of the GC-VISTA Team. He is also one of the founding members of the Hybrid English Learning Program (HELP) which is a core-curriculum class for most students at KIFL. This program, which is the first and only one of it's kind in Japan, combines classroom teaching with metaverse gameplay. In addition to teaching HELP classes, he creates the curriculum, many teaching materials, and instructs teachers on how to use metaverse applications in the classroom. He is currently working on creating on-demand classes and researching how to carry out classes completely in the metaverse.
