《Syllabus》
During the session, I will begin by providing an outline of MEXT’s expectations for individualized learning in the secondary school context, citing both the Course of Study as well as the supplemental documents produced by the Ministry and connecting them with common teacher issues that arise in the junior high or high school English classroom.
I would then like to provide a variety of ideas for increasing individualization in the classroom, with particular attention to team teaching practice through sharing real-life examples of strategies that make the most of the unique instructional opportunities that team teaching provides.
I will also touch on a few practices that I’ve both experienced for increasing individualized instruction outside of the classroom setting.
《Message》
Through this presentation, I hope to give participants a fuller understanding of MEXT’s policy surrounding Individually Optimized Learning, as well as to provide a number of simple and actionable ideas for working towards these policy goals. I’ll also take time to provide a special focus on furthering individualized instruction through team teaching, using my experiences and observations working with high school English teachers and ALTs.
